The new Mirage MRM-1 mini-monitor is a vented, "cost-no-object" two-way design and a "first" for Mirage.

Its 1" ferrofluid cooled PTH(tm) Pure Titanium Hybrid dome tweeter was chosen after an extensive world-wide search for the best tweeter money can buy. That search concluded with the tweeter that originated in the venerable Mirage flagship, the M-1si.

Via a crossover of military grade componentry, the tweeter is mated to an equally high performing mid/bass driver, a 5 1/2" unit with a carbon, graphite and mica injected polypropylene cone and butyl surround in an acoustically inert injection-molded copolymer basket. Both are mounted on a baffle of 3/4" thick sculpted Corian bonded to 1" MDF for a total 1 3/4" of acoustically inert rigidity.

The remainder of the cabinet also achieves an extraordinary degree of freedom from resonance by being not only 1" thick MDF but also lined with 1/4" sheet steel plate. This makes for a heavy speaker - 35lbs each! Optional stands, sand or shot-fillable, are finished as exotically as the speakers - real wood with Corian inserts.

Inputs are gold-plated Cardas(tm) Bi-Amp/Bi-wire type. Performance boasts include 3dB frequency response from a low 40Hz to 22KHz at 85dB efficiency. Impedance is 8 ohms nominal.

Recommended amplifiers range from 50 to 150 watts rms/ch. The MRM-1 is recommended for use in small to medium sized rooms for audio. In larger rooms and in home theatre applications it can be used with a range of Mirage powered subwoofers.

The cabinet measures 13" x 7 1/2" x 11". Finishes for both speakers and stands are Tigerwood, Cherry and Black Ash veneers.
