Our first construction of speakers from ground up using full range speakers. Known for their coverage of the entire frequency without a two-way system and expensive crossover network, full range sounds particularly sweet from the upper midrange and onwards. Vocals, female voices especially, and string instruments can never sound so real and controlled but from a full range driver.
Our cabinet is fully custom-designed, with the aim of making the footprint as small as possible without sacrificing the space the driver needs. This size is superbly ideal as desktop monitors producing accurate sounds more than capable for music and video from computer usages. They are also perfect components in bedrooms by the bed, providing a great sounding system of music causally.
Full range drivers are always deprived of bass, no matter how branded and expensive they are. The driver used in this speakers may not be a branded one, but it is one of the most famous drivers used in China Hifi DIY community. Made of paper cone and felt material surround, the heavy magnet lends its weight to a well-constructed overall driver. At a frequency range of 80hz-20kHz, it is probably the best driver at such an economic price we found to perform fantastically.
Back to the issue on lacking of bass, this driver produces a significant amount of bass many other 3 inch drivers can fail to produce. To push it to go deeper, we forgo the conventional bass reflex port so commonly seen on many full range speakers, but opt to use a same sized 3 inch passive radiator instead. By locating the passive radiator at the bottom of the cabinet, the mini footprint continues to be a reality and at the same time adds a further deep end to the notes, increasing the presence of punch for a speaker size this small.
Gold plated speaker grinding posts were securely fastened to the back for a clean look, ensuring any form of plugs and connections of speaker cables are possible.
The craft of designing and customising the cabinets, to the assembly of the drivers by hands continues with a finish of real wood veneer over the entire speaker body. A series of light sanding and matt varnish were applied for a light coat of protection against water splashes. It may not be the ultimate perfection of work, but imperfections are inevitable as we tried to be as fine as possible in our craftsmanship.
Weighing at 1.1kg per speaker, the hefty weight for this speaker size eliminates almost any resonances, outputting a sound clean and precise.
