If you’ve been diving into Aion 2 lately, you already know that companion pets are way more than just cute cosmetic followers running around behind your character. They are actually a massive part of your overall character progression and min-maxing strategy. One pet that a lot of players are trying to get their hands on early is the Baby Flomeow. Unlocking this specific companion heavily relies on the game’s core monster-hunting, exploration, and soul-collection loops.
Here is a practical, straightforward breakdown of exactly how to unlock the Baby Flomeow and what you will need to max it out.
Unlocking the Baby Flomeow Pet To get the base Baby Flomeow pet unlocked and added to your collection, you need to gather exactly 10 Flomeow Pet Souls. It sounds simple enough, but there are a few mechanics you need to keep in mind so you don't waste time spinning your wheels.
Locating the Pet: First, you don't need to guess where these creatures spawn. Open up your in-game Pet Menu and look through the list of unearned pets. Find the Baby Flomeow and click over to its Source tab. From there, you can pin the designated map zone directly to your UI. This will highlight specific, high-density spawn spots where Flomeow monsters hang out.
Farming the Souls: Once you make your way to the marked zone, start hunting the Flomeow mobs. Every qualifying kill guarantees you 1 pet soul point. However, be careful with your skills if the area is crowded. If you are using massive Area of Effect (AoE) attacks and another player tags or damages your mob, your soul drop is no longer a 100% guarantee. Try to pull single targets or find a quiet corner to secure your drops cleanly.
Alternative Hidden Cubes: While you are running around farming the region, keep your eyes peeled for Hidden Cubes. These chests spawn randomly throughout the maps. If you're lucky, opening them can occasionally drop rare, unreleased, or region-specific companion pets directly, skipping the soul grind altogether.
Pet Upgrade and Leveling Requirements Getting the base pet is just the first step. To unlock the real potential of the Flomeow line and hit critical stat thresholds, you will need to keep farming duplicate souls or specific materials to level it up. The scaling cost goes up quite a bit for each tier:
Level 2 Requirement: Requires 50 additional Flomeow Souls.
Level 3 Requirement: Requires 150 additional Flomeow Souls.
Level 4 Requirement: Requires 300 additional Flomeow Souls.
Pro-Tip on Soul Crystals: If the specific grind for Flomeow drops is getting tedious, there is a built-in catch-up mechanic. Once you successfully push any common 1-star pet up to Level 5, any further kills of that specific monster type will convert directly into generic Soul Crystals. You can pool these generic crystals together and use them to upgrade your main active pets, meaning you aren't completely locked into farming duplicate monster drops forever.
Why You Should Unlock It Is the grind actually worth it? Absolutely. Farming and upgrading pets in Aion 2 directly feeds into your character's progression. By unlocking and leveling up your companion roster, you increase your Genus Insight level and activate permanent Owned Effects.
These effects act as permanent passive stat boosts that apply straight to your character's combat power—giving you extra critical hit resistance, accuracy, or flat damage boosts regardless of which pet you have actively summoned. If you want to optimize your build for end-game content, clearing out pet targets like the Baby Flomeow is a non-negotiable step.
