ARC Raiders Invisible Mode Guide: Play Offline Wit

Sometimes you just want to drop into the Rust Belt, scavenge some high-value tech, and extract without your entire friends list pinging you for a squad-up. We've all been there—you love your crew, but tonight is a solo night. You want a pure, uninterrupted lone-wolf experience. However, if you’ve dug through the settings menu in ARC Raiders looking for a simple "Appear Offline" toggle, you already know the frustrating truth: it doesn't exist.
Because the game operates on its own persistent, dedicated servers, your in-game presence is tracked directly by Embark's backend, entirely independent of your platform status. This makes achieving a flawless, native "invisible mode" pretty difficult to do out of the box.
That said, don't lose hope just yet. While there isn't an official built-in option, you can use a few reliable platform-level workarounds to successfully obscure your online status. And if it's the actual machine enemies you want to hide from rather than your friends, there's a brilliant in-game tactical solution for that too. Here is how you can ghost everyone and enjoy your solo runs in peace.
Platform-Specific Workarounds Depending on what system you are playing on, you can manipulate your system-level privacy settings to mask your activity from your friends list. Here is how to set it up across PC and consoles:
Steam (PC): This is currently the most reliable workaround. Open your Steam client, look at the top menu, click on Friends, and select Invisible from the dropdown. For many players, changing your Steam status to invisible successfully tricks the ARC Raiders client, hiding your active status from anyone looking at their in-game Steam friends list. Just keep one major caveat in mind: the second you accept a squad invite or send one out, your status will instantly revert to online.
Xbox Series X|S: Press the Xbox guide button on your controller, navigate over to your Profile tab, and toggle your online status to Appear Offline. This will successfully mask your console network status. However, keep in mind that due to cross-play integration and linked Embark IDs, friends tracking you natively inside the ARC Raiders client might occasionally still spot you running around the Topside.
PlayStation 5: Go to your profile settings directly from the PS5 home screen dashboard, select your online status, and click Appear Offline. Much like the Xbox workaround, this covers your tracks on the PlayStation Network, but it may not perfectly override the internal game server rosters if a friend looks you up directly through the game's social tab.
In-Game Tactical "Invisibility" (Gameplay) What if your friends aren't the issue? If you clicked on this guide hoping to find a way to become literally invisible to the lethal ARC machines hunting you down on the surface, you are in luck. You can actually craft a specialized piece of high-tech gear to drop off the grid entirely during intense solo extractions.
To pull this off, you will need to upgrade your hub and gather some specific components. Follow these steps:
Build a Utility Station: Head over to your main hub workshop, open up the building menu, and set down a Utility Station if you haven't already.
Upgrade to Level 3: You can't craft the high-tier stealth gear right away. Spend some time scavenging the surface to gather the necessary resources to level up your station to Level 3.
Craft the Photoelectric Cloak: Once your station is upgraded, you will unlock the blueprint for the Photoelectric Cloak. To build it, you will need to expend 2 Advanced Electrical Components and 2 Speaker Components.
Activate the Cloak: Equip it and take it down to the surface. Deploying this item grants you short-term, absolute camouflage. It completely masks your signature from the deadliest ARC enemies, giving you the perfect window to slip past massive patrols or execute a clean solo extraction when things get too hot.
Until Embark decides to implement a true, hard-coded "Appear Offline" toggle for our social profiles, these platform tweaks and tactical cloaks are your best bets for staying out of sight. Good luck out there on the Topside, raider—whether you are hiding from the machines or just your friends.
